Growing up today is complicated, and the old “birds and bees talk” just won’t cut it anymore.
Our live, family-friendly classes turn those awkward moments into fun, relatable, and honest conversations for kids ages 8–12. We believe the most important talks don’t have to be uncomfortable—they can spark laughter, build connection, and grow confidence.

Puberty can start as early as age 8, and it changes everything—bodies, feelings, friendships, confidence, and even how kids use social media. Your kids are smart. Some know they’re changing, some hope it will never happen.
We start here, before jumping into broader life skills—because mastering the basics sets your family up for real success.
From deodorant and body changes to mood swings and emotions, we cover all the “stuff” every parent knows they should talk about but often don’t know how to begin, or get the “I know everything” attitude.

Kids are growing up with instant internet access, Google searches, and social media advice—so big questions get bypassed or answered online, not at home.
Now, you get to give your child something better—accurate info, zero shame, and a foundation of open communication.
We help parents learn how to lead these conversations, not just once, but all the way through the teenage years.

Most traditional classes can feel impersonal—sitting in a big room, hiding behind textbooks, enduring dry lectures. Our approach is completely different.
Birds & Bees Connection offers more than a one-and-done class:
Creative, high-energy sessions (we’re literally singing about hormones!)
Humor, hands-on activities, meaningful parent–child connection, a sense of normalcy—and so much more woven into every class.
Skills that grow with your family
Whole-family resources and ongoing support

Empowering parents. Supporting TWEENS. Transforming conversations.
Meet Leslie Dixon,
Founder & Executive Director, The Birds & Bees Connection
Although I started my career as a nurse, I quickly realized traditional nursing wasn’t my path. I transitioned into school health education—first at Cal State Northridge, then at two private schools, and later at the nonprofit where this journey truly began.
What I discovered was that I love to teach—and I’m good at it. These are deeply personal topics, often uncomfortable or confusing. But when taught with heart, honesty, and a little humor, something shifts.
And when parents and kids learn together, something powerful happens: they grow closer, stronger, and better equipped for life’s next chapter.
I'm proud to have supported thousands of parent-child pairs through this journey. And I’m deeply grateful to continue helping families turn “the talk” into an ongoing, life-changing conversation.
The majority of the parents who come to our classes didn’t get the puberty education they needed at their child’s age—maybe the topic was skipped, awkward, or buried in shame.
How well did that work out for you? Now it’s your turn to break the cycle.
Release the shame around talking about puberty. Give your child the accurate, shame-free education you didn’t get.

We have you covered! Become positively informed about puberty, sex education, and social media management.

Testimonials from your community in Orange County, California
"I wish there was a class like this when I was this age!
"I had previously talked with my daughter (her dad AND myself) about puberty and periods, but having her hear it from you was great. She is not embarrassed at all and has already come to both of us with questions. Everyday she asks me if her kit is ready."
- Amy (Puber-Tween 2025)
"Leslie's superpower is teaching puberty"
“Thank you so much for yesterday’s session. I loved meeting and getting to know you. Your superpower is definitely teaching puberty - all the facts, science, best practices all wrapped in a comfortable and safe bubble, which my daughter and I will spark many conversations out of. Thank you for the knowledge and humor. We are so luck to have found you.
- Jenny (Puber-Tea 2025)
"This class is something my entire family needed"
My greatest take away was that we as parents have to have an open door policy and welcome any and all questions. If they do not feel comfortable coming to us then they will go elsewhere. This was a great investment of our time and I highly recommend it."
- J.J. Ballesteros (Rites of Passage 2025)
